products - lamb

Home grown lamb must be one of the finest and healthy meats to eat in this country or indeed anywhere in the world. The expression "TK" is used to indicate British lamb, it is an abreviation for "Town Killed" which dates back through the ages when most fresh lamb was slaughtered in London. This abreviation is still common throughout the industry mainly to distinguish it from New Zealand lamb.

UK Regions farming the best British lamb are of course the hillsides of Wales, which has gained and maintained its reputation throughout the last century. Dorest and Hampshire more recently, have been producing superb lamb which is on par with the Welsh.

New Zealand's lamb is recognised worldwide for its consistancy of quality. In fact the only reason it holds second place to British lamb is because of the journey! - Consequently the forces of economics mean the lamb has to travel frozen. Having said this more chilled NZ lamb is entering the country now via air freight, but the costs involved make it uncompetetive most of the year.

New Zealand is by far the biggest producer of lamb in the world, and consequently has the superb butchering and cutting plants. The techniques they employ mean the produce that is shipped is to very exact specifications, and consistancy is second to none.
