At
Wilson (Sloane Street) Limited we recognise our customers’
concern about the use of Genetically Modified (GM) ingredients
in food.  This
includes concerns over potential food safety issues and the
environmental impact that may be caused by the growing of
GM crops.
Our
ongoing Food Safety Policy is to ensure the food we produce
and sell to our customers is both safe and wholesome. Therefore
until proven and recognised scientific evidence becomes available
to restore customer confidence in the safety of GM foods,
we will not knowingly use genetically modified ingredients.
We are
therefore working very closely with our nominated suppliers
requiring them to take reasonable steps to stop the use of
GM ingredients in the products they supply to us. Many have
already removed GM ingredients or are obtaining suitable non-GM
alternatives.
We will
endeavour at all times to not knowingly use GM ingredients
in the food we produce and sell. In the circumstances where
the known use of GM ingredients by Wilsons is unavoidable
then our customers will be kept fully informed by our staff
in line with current food labelling legislation.
